Tourism    Products:   

Definition, Concept, Characteristics    and Classification. Natural resources of India, Cultural Heritage of India — Stages of evolution, continuity Heritage - Meaning, Types of Heritage Tourism, Heritage Management Organizations.

Architectural Heritage of India:

glimpses on the prominent architecture style - Hindu, Buddhist and Islamic. Popular Religious shrines of Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, Sikh, Muslim and Christian religions .World Heritage Sites in India.

Unit III: 

Important Museum, Art Galleries and Libraries, fair & festival of India: Performing art of India: classical dances, folk dances and folk culture Handicrafts and textiles: important handicraft objects and centers, craft, melas, souvenir industry. Fairs and Festivals: Social, religious and commercial fairs of tourist significance. Indian cuisine (gastronomy), regional variation.

Wildlife Tourism & Hill stations:

Wildlife Sanctuaries, National Parks and Natural Reserves in India (Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve, Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, Valley of Flowers, Kanha, Kaziranga, Dachigam, Ranthambhore and Keoladeo Ghana). Hill Stations: Study of Hill Station attractions and their environs with case studies of Mussoorie, Nainital and Ooty.

Beach tourism:

Beaches in India- Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Orissa, Maharashtra, Pondicherry. Desert Tourism – Concept, India’s main Desert area and popular destinations .Existing trends in desert tourism. Desert Circuits of Rajasthan.  Island Tourism with reference to Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.
