Objective: 

To make the students aware of travel agency working.

Tourism as an Industry – Defining Tourism Product as an agglomeration of various sectors of economy such as Accommodation, Transportation and Entertainment, Structure of Tourism Industry, Travel trade intermediaries like Travel agency, Tour Operator etc. Concept of Domestic and International Tourism.

UNIT II
  1. Definition of  a Travel Agency and a Tour Operator, types of Travel agencies and Tour Operators. Forms of Travel agency business- Proprietorship, Partnership and Corporate firm. Organization Structure of a Travel/ Tour company.

 

Unit III: 
UNIT III
  1. Procedure for the approval and recognition of a travel agency and tour operation business from Govt. of India and IATA. Different functions being performed by the Travel Agents , Procedure for the approval of a Travel agency by IATA.

           Functions of a Travel /Tour company.

 

Unit IV: 
UNIT IV

Meaning,Types and importance of an Itinerary, process of itinerary Preparation.

              Introduction to tour Packaging, Types of Package tours and stages for Package

              Tour formulation, Significance of Package tours.

              Tour Costing and Pricing- Introduction, Tour Cost, Components of tour cost,

                 costing a tour package with the help of a Cost sheet.

UNIT V
  1. Tourism Regulation & Legislation in India – Passport ,Visa ,Special permits ,Antiquities and Consumer Expectation .
