Objective: 
  1. To understand about airline industry, various international organization, airline terminology.
  2. To understand about world geography, Itinerary preparation & Airline Ticketing.

 

Unit I:

  1. Introduction to Air travel and development of Aviation industry over the years.

Linkages between Aviation and Tourism industry.

International Travel Organizations:

  • Understand International regulations such as The Chicago convention and ICAO ,bilateral agreements and the Warsaw Convention.
  • International Organizations such as IATA, UFTAA :An Introduction, Role & Functions, membership.
  • Meaning of Traffic rights and differentiate between different types of traffic rights.
Unit II:

  1. Understanding Travel Terminology:
  • Interpret Travel terminologies. (Airport terminology, Hotel terminology etc.)
  • Code and Decode Travel terminology.
  • Define travel related terms used in the Airline industry. (Country /city code, Airport Code, Airline Designated code, currency code, Global indicators etc)

 

Unit III: 
Unit III
  1. World Geography
  • Identify the main geographical features of the world. (land & water features etc)
  • Distinguish the main IATA Traffic Conference Area.
  • Locate major countries and their capital cities.
  • Familiarize with the international timing system. (Time Zones, GMT, longitude & latitude, international date line.)

Introduction to Itinerary designing

  • Basics of Itinerary- Design, Prerequisites and Process.
  • Planning Itinerary using airways/railways/other modes of transportation.
  • Make suitable connections while planning itineraries.
  • Calculate Flying time and elapsed time.
  • Know how to use minimum connecting time.

 

Unit V:

Introduction to Airline Ticketing

  • Definition of Reservation- Meaning, Concept & Types.
  • Explanation of various rules pertaining to making airline reservation via (Software/CRS and Portals.)
  • Most widely used Computer Reservation System
  • Introduction to Ticketing software (Galileo/Amadeus), Airline Ticket booking portals & application.
  • Passenger Ticket (E-Ticket and Paper Ticket)
